PostHeaderIcon Where can I find United Kingdom fixed asset depreciation rates?

In the near future I am going to be starting up a business making furniture, and I will be using Sage accounting software. I know how to set up the depreciation on all my fixed assets but where exactly do I get the depreciation rates from. Obviously you can’t just take a guess at what the rates should be e.g I have purchased a CNC router machine which cost £14000. Do I depreciate this item 5% a year or 20% or 15%. Where can I get this info?

PostHeaderIcon Accounting and Economic Costs?

Joe quits his computer-programming job, where he was earning a salary of $50,000 per year to start his own computer software business in a building that he owns and was previously renting out for $24,000 per year. In his first year of business he has the following expenses: salary paid to himself $40,000, rent, $0, and other expenses $25,000. Find the accounting cost and the economic cost associated with Joe’s computer software business.

Can you please check my answer:

The accounting cost of opening his own business is the cost of Joe’s salary plus his rent and other expenses. This equals $65,000.

In this case, the economic cost is the accounting cost plus the opportunity cost. This equals $139,000.

PostHeaderIcon What Small Business Accounts should I post assets?

I work for a manufacturing company. We built one of our own products for our own use at the company. We use peachtree accounting software. We want to show that the product was built and taken out of stock and the cost involved in building that product but we do not want to Invoice and pay ourselves for it. We also want to show that it is now an asset. How would we go about doing this in Peachtree? Or any other accounting information would be great.

I had worked at the biggest Car production company (Irankhodro) for 2 years and I have been working in the Export development Bank of Iran since 2001. I am working at the accounting section of International affairs department. My main duties are recording of the financial entries and preparing the reposts base on the manager requirements.
I am good at Microsoft software such as Excel.
As I should study in UK, I just only have 3 days a week to work so it is highly appreciated if I am appointed for a part time jobs.
