Quickbooks will NOT work. This is an interior design business, and we have to keep track of inventory, furniture and other things, that are mostly rented out, but sometimes sold. Does anyone know of an inexpensive software that will do this?
Gee Guys, thanks for the hint on Tally. However I’m in the USA. I don’t think I can get it here. I need one I can get and use in America.

Does anyone have a good recommendation for online accounting software?

I wanted to get quickbooks but it cost a fortune. I was wondering if there was an accounting software for free (like OpenOffice Suite which is very similar to Microsoft Office Suite) for accounting practice similar to quickbooks.

Is there a good accounting software that matches QuickBooks that is free? I run a small business and the QuickBooks ads and fees are getting to me. Any free software that matches or is better than QuickBooks out there?

I’m designing some software to help small mom-and-pop companies put themselves online for little or no recurring cost. The software will be able to run all the functions of their business, from inventory control, to marketing (tie ins to Froogle, eBay, Shopping.com, and AdWords and Overture), to accounting (export in CSV for now, QuickBooks later), and so forth. It will be easy to change the look-and-feel of it (using skins and templates, some of which I’ll build at first, and I’ll publish the guide to creating more). It will integrate with Authorize.net, PayPal, and other merchant services. It will be built using Open Source tools, and will itself be Open Source.

The thing I need is an online program that will give the user the key from my database once he/her has entered the credit card and contact information, once the user has entered the credit card information, the set amount from the software costs should be deposited on a bank account.
